Summary

As a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science national laboratory, ORNL has an outstanding 80-year history of solving the nation’s biggest problems. We have a dedicated and creative staff of over 6,000 people! Our vision for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) is to cultivate an environment and practices that foster diversity in ideas and in the people across the organization, as well as to ensure ORNL is recognized as a workplace of choice. We believe these elements are critical for enabling the execution of ORNL’s broader mission to accelerate scientific discoveries and their translation into energy, environment, and security solutions for the nation.

The Advanced Computing Methods for Health Sciences (ACH) section in the Computational Science and Engineering Division (CSED) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking to hire a Scientific Group Leader for Multiscale Biomedical Systems (MBS). We focus on biomedical modeling, simulation, imaging, and data analytics using high-performance computing to enable scientific discovery in biomedicine and health.

We use expertise in large scale biomedical simulation, multiscale modeling, image processing, and data analytics to build tools in healthcare; create scalable solutions of AI, ML and DL for multi-dimensional, multi-modal data analysis on HPC environments applied to health, and to develop/implement AI/DL methods for images and data.

Purpose:

You’ll provide Research and Development (R&D) leadership and strategically advance science and technology consistent with ORNL’s leadership as an outstanding R&D institution! You will lead a group of scientists with the primary goal of pursuing global scientific leadership in AI biomedical simulation, modeling, and synthetic data generation.
